Their tusks are actually teeth, that protrude from the mouth and curve upwards. The upper canine teeth can grow up to 10 inches in length, while the lower teeth are shorter, but razor sharp and capable of inflicting serious damage.
While warthog usually run from danger, they do use them in combat against other hogs, as well as predators.
A common warthog stands on an earth mound turning in the sunshine. It has grey skin, a brown mane and white tusks and is turning to face the camera.
They live in groups called ‘sounders’
An average group of warthogs consists of a mother and her new young and possibly two other sows with older young.Females usually have good bonds and can stay together for multiple breeding cycles. Sub-adult males can form bachelor groups but leave these as they reach adulthood (over four years).
Warthogs use different types of noise to communicate
After warthogs have been separated, they often make loud grunting noises when back together (and have been observed even touching noses).Growling indicates more threatening behaviour, and if they are being defensive or submissive they will often squeal. Clacking noises are used to help entice females by males.
Males like to stay up longer than females
Females and piglets will go into their holes at around dusk, where males will often stay out up to two hours later before they retire for the night.
Piglets start grazing quickly
Young warthogs start foraging from around 2-3 weeks old and will be totally weaned by around 6 months old.
Their tusks are hunted for ivory
Elephant ivory is illegal, but this isn’t the case for warthogs where their tusks are still carved for the tourist trade in eastern and southern Africa.
Females leave the family to give birth
When a female is about to give birth to her piglets she will leave the group she is in and go and find her own burrow or hole. She will remain here for 6-7 weeks with her young and only leave for short periods to graze (less than usual). She hardly ever leaves the burrow in the piglets first year of life.
They can run up to 55 kph (35 mph)
this is an adaptive method for escape from predators
Ability to foster
Warthog sows may foster nurse piglets if they lose their own litter. This behaviour is known as allosucking and is thought to be a sign of altruism, rather than mistaken identity or milk theft. It means that they are classed as ‘cooperative breeders’.
Predators
including lions, leopards, cheetahs, hyenas, wild dogs and crocodiles. Even large eagles and Verreaux’s eagle owls may snatch a young piglet
They’re vegetarians.
Warthogs may appear to be ferocious little animals, and contrary to Pumba the warthog eating worms in the Lion King, they are not carnivores. Warthogs are grazers, eating grasses, plants, berries and bark. They also use their snouts to dig up roots and bulbs.

Ms Mayorga has alleged that she was sexually assaulted in a Las Vegas hotel room following a night out with the footballer in 2009.
Ronaldo has continued to strongly deny the claim and today’s recommendation of case termination all but clears his name in a court of law.
According to The Mirror, Ronaldo settled a case with Ms Mayorga 12 years ago for £375,000.
She then sought to overturn that original settlement in 2018 and is now seeking more than £56 million in damages and costs.
In 2018, Ronaldo said: ‘I firmly deny the accusations being issued against me. Rape is an abominable crime that goes against everything I am and believe in.’
Ronaldo’s girlfriend, 26-year-old Spanish model Georgina Rodriguez, has also stood by him over the claims.

“I have not broken the law hence, I have courage.” The lady further stated that she does not care what others think of her.
“This is a personal decision and no one can judge me”, she said.
She further asserted that she has money and that she is just looking for a man who will love her.
“I have money, I don’t want to stress a man”, she stated. The lady disclosed that Wednesday 15th September, 2021 was her fourth day in the streets looking for a partner.

Kim Kardashian’s marriage to Kanye West is reportedly over and a “divorce is imminent” with the reality star hiring Laura Wasser, divorce lawyer to the stars
Kim Kardashian and Kanye West are reportedly getting divorced, according to US media.
The 40-year-old Keeping Up With The Kardashians star is said to be “done” with her rapper husband, who is staying at his ranch in Wyoming and has “no plans” to reunite with Kim in Los Angeles.
Page Six has reported that a “divorce is imminent” for the Hollywood couple, with Kim hiring Laura Wasser, who has been a divorce lawyer for the stars.
A source has told them: “They are keeping it low-key but they are done. Kim has hired Laura Wasser and they are in settlement talks.”
It has been reported that Kim has stopped wearing her wedding ring while Kanye takes an extended break at his $14 million ranch.
The source added: “Kim got Kanye to go up there [Wyoming] so they could live separate lives and quietly get things sorted out to separate and divorce. She’s done.”
Kim has been a big supporter of her husband while he deals with his mental health issues, but the source has indicated that this support has reached a final destination.
They added: “Now this divorce is happening because Kim has grown up a lot.
“She is serious about taking the bar exam and becoming a lawyer, she is serious about her prison reform campaign.
“Meanwhile Kanye is talking about running for president and saying other crazy s***, and she’s just had enough of it.”
A separate source has said that Kanye has become increasingly irritated by the Kardashian family’s lifestyle and uncomfortable with where it was all heading.
The source said: “Is completely over the entire family … He wants nothing to do with them.”
Kanye has also reportedly labelled Keeping Up With The Kardashians as “unbearable” and is looking to distance himself from them.
Kanye is thought to have shown up at Kim’s lavish 40th birthday party in Tahiti for just one day, before leaving at the first opportunity.
The source said: “He showed up late and left early, he wouldn’t appear in any of their Instagram shots. All he did was bring over the hologram of her father Robert Kardashian, then got out of there as fast as he could.”
It would seem that the main sticking point in the divorce settlement talks is Kim wanting Kanye to hand over their Calalbasas home in California.
They paid $40 million for the property and then a further $20 million renovating it to how they wanted it, with a minimalist pure white design which has been described as “an oasis of purity and light.”
The source said: “Kim is trying to get Kanye to turn over the Calabasas house to her, because that’s where the kids are based and growing up. That is their home.”
They added: “She owns all the land and adjoining lots around the house but Kanye owns the actual house. They’ve both put a lot of money into renovating it.”
Speaking of the advanced settlement talks, the source said: “This isn’t the first time they’ve been talking about a split, but this time it is way, way more serious.”
China fires up its ‘artificial sun’ for the first time: Experimental nuclear fusion reactor that burn TEN TIMES hotter than the sun offers the promise of ‘limitless clean power’
China has successfully fired up its ‘artificial sun’ nuclear fusion reactor for the first time in its quest to find ‘limitless clean power’, according to state media.
The HL-2M Tokamak reactor is China’s largest and most advanced nuclear fusion experimental research device, and scientists hope that the device can potentially unlock a powerful green energy source.
The cutting-edge device uses a powerful magnetic field to fuse hot plasma and can reach temperatures of over 150million degrees Celsius (302million degrees Fahrenheit), according to the People’s Daily — approximately 10 times hotter than the core of the sun.
Located in south-western Sichuan province and completed late last year, the reactor is often called an ‘artificial sun’ on account of the enormous heat and power it produces.
‘The development of nuclear fusion energy is not only a way to solve China’s strategic energy needs, but also has great significance for the future sustainable development of China’s energy and national economy,’ said the People’s Daily, a mouthpiece of the ruling Communist Party.
The new equipment is now ready to be put into use officially after being powered up during an experiment at around 2pm in a research laboratory in Chengdu.
Yu Jianfeng, chairman of China National Nuclear Corporation which is in charge of the development of the reactor, said the success could improve scientists’ understanding of fusion power.
A pintsized schoolgirl who can lift weights of 80kg has revealed she just ‘clears her mind and does it.’
Little Rory van Ulft, seven, from Ottowa, is just four foot tall and started weightlifting just after her fifth birthday after she was scouted at a gymnastics class.
She was recently crowned USA weightlifting under-11 and under-13s Youth National Champion in the 30kg weight class, making her the youngest US youth national champion in history, with her father Cavan revealing: ‘It would be fair to say Rory is the strongest little girl in the world.’
Meanwhile he insisted the unusual hobby is safe for his daughter, explaining: ‘Her safety is everyone’s top priority. She progresses in her training for both sports carefully and methodically.’
Cavan said: ‘Based on her current Sinclair total, Rory is not only the strongest seven-year-old in the world.
‘She is likely also the strongest seven-year-old girl or boy who has ever lived, for whom there are verifiable competition results.’
Rain Gordon, from Russia, bought her future “husband” in a hardware store five years ago. She’s sharing her story to help raise awareness about objectum sexual people, and to break down the stigma
A woman who says she is romantically attracted to objects has opened up about marrying a briefcase – and says her new “husband” is the love of her life.
Rain Gordon said she has always felt captivated by objects, and this eventually grew into a romantic and sexual attraction.
She tied the knot with the case, who she named Gideon, in a ceremony in June this year, officiated by a pal.
The 24-year-old said that although she has had relationships with men in the past, she was always more attracted to objects than to people, and she was always happier in her relationships with objects.
Rain, a Nursery school teacher from Moscow, Russia said: “My fascination with objects began at the age of eight.
“From my childhood I believed that a soul is embedded in objects, as well as everything around us. I believe in animism, which means that there is life in everything.
“During my childhood and early teenage years, I fell in love with places such as the new shopping centre that opened in my city. I knew that it was wrong, and beyond the norms of society. I didn’t tell anyone.”
Speaking about the briefcase, she said: “I had no idea that we would end up together. I admired how he looked, but I didn’t think anything more.
“But then I started liking Gideon for more than that. I slowly realised I was starting to fall in love.
“I’d want to look at him for hours and feel his presence. After another few months in November the relationship began.
“We shared our first hug and kiss, and we spent more time together in the evenings and nights. We could have philosophical conversations for three or four hours.
“Our spiritual connection and communication is shown telepathically. I hear him, and he hears me, but from the outside it looks like a monologue.
“Gideon is more than just a partner to me. He is a husband, a friend and a mentor. “His moral support helps me more than anyone else. Sometimes I feel like Gideon knows me better than I do.”
Rain added that despite branching out into a new relationship with a man in 2017 – while still in a relationship with Gideon – but said she could not connect with him in the same way, and would always choose Gideon over another man.
She said: “I am not a strict objectum sexual, and I am not against relationships with people.
“But I have never found myself with a person who could overshadow my attraction and fill my heart in the same way as I feel with Gideon.
“I was with a man in 2017 and the relationship lasted two years, but it did not end well. He discovered my addiction to objects and this was one of the reasons why we broke up.
“I couldn’t connect with him. When faced with a choice between him and Gideon, I chose Gideon without any hesitation.
“I always have and always will choose him. For me, objects – although I don’t really like using that word – really are better than people.”
While at first Rain did not tell anyone about her relationship, she eventually told some of her friends and her brother, who she says have all been very understanding.
After five years together, Rain and Gideon got married in June this year and the pair even have special wedding rings with individual engravings on them.
The pair were wed by a friend online, and while Rain recognised that the marriage is unofficial and not legalised, she is the happiest she has ever been.
She said: “In May, just before my birthday, I received a gift that I could not even dream of. I got a proposal.
“I happily agreed and made an order for wedding rings, with individual engravings for myself and for him.
“The wedding was in June but we held the ceremony much later in a hotel room in October.
“This is not the first time I have booked a hotel simply because we would like to spend time together.
“We were wed by my friend online, and my friends and brother were at the ceremony.
“I was so happy. Although the wedding is not officially legalised, I was pleased to know our relationship moved to a higher level.”
Rain is now sharing her story to help raise awareness about objectum sexuals and to break down the misconceptions and stigma surrounding this orientation.
She added: “The sight of Gideon makes my heart skip a beat. I am madly in love with silver, mirror reflections and metal.
“People don’t understand my feeling. I’ve been told I’m sick and to seek treatment.
“I don’t let it offend me anymore. Objectum sexuals don’t pose any threat to themselves or others.
“To ridicule and humiliate us for the fact that the ones we love are not like everyone else is disgusting. Love is love.
“I wish people were more understanding. Don’t judge people for something you don’t understand.
“I really hope one day the topic of objectum sexuals will be more known throughout the world, so others like me will not feel so alone.”
A lightweight female fighter beat a 529-pound man to win an inter-gender MMA fight.
The fight, which has been described as a “freakshow” by many in MMA, took place in Russia between professional fighter Darina Madzyuk and blogger Grigory Chistyakov.
The fight lasted only one peculiar round. Chistyakov appeared to take the upper hand early on, pinning Madzyuk in a choke hold by the side of the cage.
The referee broke them apart, and after a few poorly aimed punches from both fighters, Madzyuk managed to get her rival on the floor, and began bludgeoning the top of the amateur’s head for several seconds before the referee pulled her off and gave her the win.
In light of the defeat, the male Russian fighter claimed he would be training actively and lead a healthier lifestyle.
“After this fight, I will start to train actively,” the beaten Chistyakov said.
“I will try to lead more or less a healthy lifestyle. Blogger Nastya Tuki-Tuk will be my coach.
“It happened. She hit me fine and I fell. Although she is small, I lay on her back, but she did not fall, and than I didn’t know what to do.”
Lions, tigers, and bears all have different preferences when it comes to their living situation — lions live in prides, and tigers and bears are mostly solitary. But sometimes life makes for odd couplings (or triple-ings).
A trio of these animals decided to form their own little weird pack and they live together in harmony, despite belonging to different species. From the trauma they faced together when they were young, these guys generated a unique bond. One that we can all learn from.
This special BLT (bear, lion, tiger), as the group is known, is a reflection of how all animals can grow to love each other, despite coming from different worlds.
A sad discovery In 2001, the Georgia State Police broke into a drug dealer’s home and stumbled upon a heartbreaking scene. In the basement of the house lay 3 terrified cubs. A bear cub, a tiger cub, and a lion cub were all malnourished, infested with parasites, and showed signs of inhumane treatment.
A black bear named Baloo, was trapped in a harness that had cut through his skin. A Bengal tiger named Shere Khan, looked near death, and Leo, an African lion, had been locked into a small box, despite having an open wound on his face. But those tragic days have come to an end.
A new home for BLT Authorities contacted the Georgia Department of Natural Resources and helped the trio move into their new home: a rescue center known as Noah’s Ark.
Baloo, Shere Khan, and Leo, still fearful from the trauma they’d been through, looked to each other for comfort. After a few months of healing, the cubs began to show more confidence in each other and themselves: They could be seen grooming, cuddling, and playing with each other.
As the trio became older, the rescue center leaders sadly anticipated that they might have to separate them as they grew into adulthood. They thought this made all the sense in the world, assuming the 3 acted according to the laws of nature. But this family was too closely knit to pay attention to any of these laws. They were brothers, and there was no way, or need as it turned out, to cut their fraternal bonds.
Baloo Baloo, the American black bear, had suffered the most abuse as a cub and had to be operated on when he was rescued. He was separated from his friends, and when he came back, they welcomed him with licks and all kinds of roughhousing, a sign of animal affection. Baloo grew into a relaxed and confident bear who today would do absolutely anything for something sweet.
Shere Khan Shere Khan, the Bengal tiger, was the smallest of the 3 and also the most mischievous. He attacked Baloo and Leo during playdates but, at the same time, could also be the most loving toward the others. Shere showed his love by headbutting his brothers and snuggling with them.
Leo Leo, the African lion, enjoyed long naps on the porch of his clubhouse. He obviously was fond of rest and also greatly enjoyed his moments of exploration, investigating new spaces, foods, smells, and toys which his caregivers offered him.
The last good-bye The 3 brothers lived together for 15 years. Their caretakers swear that they never saw them fight or get violent with each other, not even once. After surviving such a horrific nightmare together, they rewarded each other with many, many happy days.
In 2016, Leo was diagnosed with cancer and left his siblings shortly thereafter. Shere Khan followed him in 2018 and was buried next to his brother near their clubhouse, one of his favorite spots. Baloo is the only member of this trio left in the sanctuary and is waiting until the day the 3 of them get back together.
